By the decree published with President Erdoğan's signature, Nevşehir Governor Ali Fidan was appointed as the General Director of Security. Following the appointment, the life of the new general director of security has become a matter of curiosity. Here is the answer to the questions of who Ali Fidan is and where he is originally from.
Appointment decisions regarding the General Directorate of Security were published in the Official Gazette. According to the decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, General Director of Security Mahmut Demirtaş was assigned to the Ministry of Interior. Ali Fidan, the Governor of Nevşehir, was appointed as the General Director of Security.
Following the appointment decision, questions such as “Who is the new General Director of Security Ali Fidan?”, “Where is Ali Fidan from?” and “What positions has Ali Fidan held?” became a matter of curiosity. Known for his long-spanning career in public administration, Ali Fidan has served in various roles including district governorship, governorship, and ministry levels.
Completing his education in the field of public administration, Fidan gained significant administrative experience by serving at different levels of the state throughout his professional life. Recognized by the public for his responsibilities in different cities, Fidan’s prominence increased particularly through his duties as governor and undersecretary.
After his most recent role, Ali Fidan, who was appointed to the General Directorate of Security, has come back into the spotlight with his new position. Having served in various institutions throughout his career, Fidan gained experience in different areas of the administrative structure.
WHO IS THE NEW GENERAL DIRECTOR OF SECURITY ALİ FİDAN?
He was born in 1970 in the Gerede district of Bolu. He completed his primary and secondary education in Gerede, and his high school education in 1988 at Bolu Imam Hatip High School. In 1992, he graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration. Afterwards, he worked briefly as a research assistant at Abant Izzet Baysal University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration.
He began his career as a District Governor Candidate at the Bolu Governorship in 1994 in the Civil Administration profession. During his district governor candidacy internship, he underwent language training and professional studies in England (Bournemouth) for 8 months. He served as Acting District Governor in the Çankırı-Kurşunlu and Uşak-Ulubey districts.
He served as District Governor of Felahiye, District Governor of Yazıhan, Deputy Governor of Malatya, and worked at the General Directorate of Provincial Administration as Branch Manager, Department Head, Deputy General Director, and as General Director between 2013-2015.
He served as the Governor of Düzce between 2015-2016.
He started his duty as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Defence on August 25, 2016, and held this position between 2016-2018.
Fidan, appointed as the Governor of Nevşehir on August 9, 2023, continued his gubernatorial duty until his appointment as the General Director of Security.
APPOINTMENTS IN THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF SECURITY
Ankara Provincial Police Director Engin Dinç, Mersin Provincial Police Director İdris Yılmaz, and Siirt Provincial Police Director Necmettin Öztürk were assigned to the General Directorate of Security.
Maksut Yüksek, Konya Provincial Police Director, was appointed to Ankara Provincial Police Directorate; Necmettin Koç, Yozgat Provincial Police Director, to Konya Provincial Police Directorate; Fahri Aktaş, Manisa Provincial Police Director, to Mersin Provincial Police Directorate; Adnan Karayel, Elazığ Provincial Police Director, to Manisa Provincial Police Directorate; Aydın Karan, Chief Police Inspector, to Elazığ Provincial Police Directorate; Tuncay Pekin, Chief Police Inspector, to Yozgat Provincial Police Directorate; and Mehmet Özdemir, Director of the Police Vocational Training Center, to Siirt Provincial Police Directorate.
Furthermore, Füsun Arslantosun and Alper Görkem Aksu were appointed to the vacant deputy secretary general positions in the General Secretariat of the National Security Council.
