Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, who was alleged to be joining the AK Party after resigning from the CHP, responded to the allegations. Aras stated that there was no longer any opportunity to engage in politics in the CHP and said regarding his resignation, 'To be honest, I could say I was even late.' Aras also announced that he would not switch to another party and would continue his duty as an independent.
Ahmet Aras, Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, who resigned from the CHP, responded to the claims that he would "join the AK Party" after leaving his party. Speaking to journalist Fatih Altaylı, Aras denied the claims and stated that he would continue his duty as an independent.
"I WAS EVEN LATE IN RESIGNING FROM THE CHP"
Journalist Fatih Altaylı shared the details of his meeting with Ahmet Aras, Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality. According to the information Altaylı shared, Aras made the following assessment regarding his decision to leave his party:
"I had no room left to do politics in the CHP. Isn't the reason very clear? Everyone sees it anyway. To be honest, I could say I was even late."
"I WILL NOT SWITCH TO ANYWHERE"
When asked about the claims that he would switch to the AK Party after the resignation, Aras stated that he would not join another political party. Altaylı relayed the dialogue between them with these words:
"I asked, 'There are rumors that you will switch to the AK Party. Is there any truth to that?' He said, 'I will not switch to anywhere. I will remain independent.'"
