Opposition groups continue their advance in Syria. Most recently, the regime-opposing groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which clashed with the Syrian regime forces and took control of the city center of Hama, have reached the interior of the city of Homs, which is described as the last stronghold before the capital, Damascus. DERA HAS ALSO FALLEN TO THE OPPOSITIONThe opposition groups have taken control of the Dera provincial center on the Jordanian border from the forces of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Military opposition fighters, who mobilized against regime forces in Dera province in the south of the country, advanced by capturing numerous settlements and military points in the rural areas. After intense clashes, the opposition groups also took control of the provincial center from the regime forces. MAJOR MIGRATION CONVOYS FORMEDAfter the intense clashes, there has been significant activity in the areas that have been cleared of terrorism. Thousands of Syrians, who were forced to leave their homes due to internal conflicts and took refuge in tent cities established in the area between Aleppo and Tal Rifaat, have begun their journey back home following the capture of Aleppo from the Syrian regime and Tal Rifaat from the PKK/YPG. With the opposition securing control in the region, Syrians returning home have formed large migration convoys. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SYRIANS HAVE RELOCATEDAccording to a report in Hürriyet, Syrians have set out to return to their previously abandoned homes. Traffic congestion has also occurred at the entrances of many cities in Syria, especially in Aleppo, Tal Rifaat, and Afrin, due to the influx of returnees. HTS and the Syrian National Army (SNA) armed groups have established checkpoints on the roads, and security measures have been increased at city entrances against possible terrorist attacks. In the last 5 days, 200,000 Syrians have relocated. The most intense returns have been to Aleppo, Tal Rifaat, and Afrin.
