İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba stated that he has a disagreement with his party on the issues of the Terror-Free Turkey process and the New Constitution, and announced that he will vote "Yes" in the parliamentary votes on the New Constitution and the Mecca Agreement.
İYİ Party Deputy Chairman and Ankara MP Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba announced that he has deep disagreements with the party leadership over the "Terror-Free Turkey" process and the New Constitution. Speaking to journalist İsmail Saymaz, Fakıbaba responded to claims that he would switch to the AK Party and clearly set out his personal stance in the critical votes to be held in Parliament.
"I HAVE NO DECISION TO SWITCH TO THE AK PARTY" Evaluating the transfer claims that he would join the AK Party, which have been frequently raised about him recently, Fakıbaba denied the rumors, stating that for now he has no such decision. However, he underlined that he seriously diverges from some strategic decisions taken by the İYİ Party headquarters.
Meral Akşener had pinned his badge on Eşref Fakıbaba "I SUPPORT THE PEACE PROCESS" Sharing his views on the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, Fakıbaba stated that in past votes he complied with the party decision in order not to break group discipline, but that he personally thought differently. Fakıbaba said, "I have been a liberal person since my youth. They cannot wash blood with blood; they wash it with water. When I joined the İYİ Party, I did not say 'How happy is the one who says I am a Turk'; I said 'I am a Turkish nationalist.' I believe that the Terror-Free Turkey process will conclude positively. If it does not, the state will do what is necessary. I support the peace process."
"YES" SIGNAL FOR THE NEW CONSTITUTION AND THE MECCA AGREEMENT Clarifying his own stance despite the İYİ Party leadership's distance from the New Constitution efforts, Fakıbaba argued that Turkey needs a civilian and new constitution. Announcing that he would vote "Yes" on the New Constitution text coming to Parliament, Fakıbaba also stated that he would support the Mecca Agreement.
