In the local elections on March 31, Ahmet Akın, who was elected as the Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, made a remarkable statement at the BASKİ General Assembly after the Metropolitan Council meeting without breaking the current HTML.

In the meeting where the AK Party Group opposed the price increase in water, Akın criticized the management of the Metropolitan Municipality and BASKİ during the Yücel Yılmaz period with harsh words, saying, "My friends, you have taken out loans 6 times since 2022. I ask, what have you done with this money, son? Isn't it a shame for the people? There is no infrastructure, no treatment plant in the Gulf, and the loss and leakage, which is the first in Turkey, is the shame left by the previous period. In his further statement, Akın intensified his criticism, saying, "In 2022, they made the same increase. They did even more, and they took out loans 6 times, we didn't take out a loan once.
