An armed robbery at a food business in Mersin, during which approximately 1 million dollars was stolen, was quickly resolved thanks to the swift actions of the police. Two masked suspects who stormed the workplace were caught at a gas station with the stolen money just hours after their escape. What made the incident even more striking was the revelation that M.S.A., an employee who acted like a victim during the robbery, was actually an accomplice of the robbers.
In Mersin, a robbery incident involving the theft of 800 thousand dollars and 400 thousand TL from a food business was quickly resolved thanks to the rapid and coordinated efforts of the police teams. Three suspects, one of whom was an employee of the workplace, were caught red-handed with the stolen money in a police operation reminiscent of movie scenes conducted by the police of Mersin and Adana.
MASKED ROBBERS STORMED THE BUSINESS, TOOK 1 MILLION DOLLARS AND FLED
According to the statement from the Provincial Police Department, a staff member working at a food company reported that two masked and armed individuals entered the workplace, tied them up with plastic handcuffs, and fled with 800 thousand dollars and 400 thousand TL from the cash register.
Upon the notification, the Robbery Bureau teams of the Public Order Branch launched a large-scale operation.
SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED FROM CAMERAS
Teams examining the security camera footage determined that the robbery was carried out by E.K.K. and A.Ş. When it was established that the suspects had fled Mersin in a rented vehicle, contact was made with the Adana police.
CAUGHT AT A FUEL STATION
As a result of the surveillance, it was determined that the suspects were at a fuel station next to a rest area in Adana. Mersin and Adana teams conducted a joint operation and captured the two suspects before they could escape.
During the searches of the vehicle and on the suspects, 801 thousand 153 dollars, 1,340 Euros, 462 thousand 395 TL, and a weapon believed to have been used in the incident were seized. The fact that the money was seized before it could be shared drew attention.
ROBBERY PLANNED FROM THE INSIDE
Police, deepening the investigation, uncovered that the incident was organized with support from the inside. It was determined that M.S.A., an employee of the workplace who acted like a victim during the robbery, had planned the heist together with the two suspects.
It was reported that the investigation conducted for the crime of "qualified robbery" has been completed, and the three suspects will be referred to the courthouse after their procedures.
