According to information obtained off the coast of İhsaniye Neighborhood in the Karasu district of Sakarya, an 8-meter boat named "Kerem Reis 1" ran aground on the beach while attempting to enter the Sakarya River mouth.
THE BOAT RAN AGROUND
The boat, which was being dragged by the wind and waves, faced the risk of breaking apart. It was pulled back to safety with the support of heavy machinery. There were no injuries in the incident, but the boat sustained material damage.
Atilla Bıçakcı, the President of the Karasu Fisheries Cooperative, stated in a press release regarding the incident, "This is not the first time this has happened here. Boats have run aground many times, and one day there may be a loss of life. We want a lighthouse to be built on the breakwater. It is almost impossible to enter at night or in rough weather. This problem has not been solved for years."
