A new regulation is expected to bring significant changes to purchases made from abroad. Accordingly, it has been stated that the limit for duty-free shopping may be reduced to 22 euros.

It has been reported that the Ministry of Trade is preparing to reduce the customs exemption set at 30 euros for purchases from abroad. Mustafa Gültepe, the President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), stated, "The Ministry of Trade indicated that the ceiling for purchases from abroad could be lowered to 22 euros."

In Turkey, the "duty-free shopping limit" for goods brought in from abroad via mail and cargo was reduced from 150 euros (including shipping costs) to 30 euros (1,299 TL at the current exchange rate) on August 21, 2024. Now, the issue of potentially reducing the customs exemption limit again has come to the agenda.

Purchases made from foreign-based e-commerce sites over 30 euros are subject to additional import taxes at customs.
