Sırrı Süreyya Önder, a member of the DEM Party, suffered a heart attack at his home in Istanbul and was hospitalized in an intubated state. After a 12-hour surgery, he was placed in intensive care. It has been reported that the issue with the right side of Önder's heart persists, and the decision has been made to extend the number of days he will be sedated from 3 to 5 days.
Due to a heart condition he experienced in Istanbul, the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder was taken to Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul for surgery and was placed in intensive care after an operation lasting approximately 12 hours.
"HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT PULSE AND INTUBATED"
In a statement from the hospital, it was reported that Önder was brought to the hospital without a pulse and intubated, and that after 10 minutes of heart and lung massage, spontaneous circulation was restored and a pulse was detected. The statement said, "Sırrı Süreyya Önder's life-threatening condition continues."
"THE AORT HAD TURNED PURPLE"
Prof. Dr. Ertan Sağbaş, who performed the surgery, stated, "It was one of the most complicated dissections I have seen in a long time," and added, "The aort had turned purple. When we entered the surgery, we started with massage. After relieving the body's circulation, we stopped the massage. When he arrived, his heart had stopped." Saying, "Our patient is in a very critical position," Sağbaş noted, "It is not possible to talk about the long term. Critical hours are ahead of us." In his last statement, Sağbaş mentioned that there was an improvement in one of Önder's circulation-related parameters and that his bleeding had almost stopped.
THE NUMBER OF DAYS HE WILL BE SEDATED HAS INCREASED TO 5
It was learned that the problem on the right side of Önder's heart continues and that the decision was made to increase the number of days he will be sedated from 3 days to 5 days.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and member of the DEM Party Imralı delegation Sırrı Süreyya Önder was taken to Florence Nightingale Hospital by ambulance due to a heart condition he experienced in Istanbul on Tuesday, April 15, at 23:00.
Önder, who suffered a tear in the main aorta, was quickly taken into surgery. The surgery, which Prof. Dr. Çavlan Çiftçi, the Rector of Florence Nightingale Hospitals, described as "one of the largest surgeries among heart diseases," lasted 10 hours.
