According to a written statement made through the Telegram account of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS), 32 people were killed and 99 were injured in the ballistic missile attack carried out by the Russian army on the city of Sumi. The statement noted that search and rescue operations in the attack area are ongoing, and it was reported that among the injured, there are 11 children.

While speaking to reporters on Air Force One, U.S. President Donald Trump also addressed this attack. In response to a question about Russia's attack on Sumi, Trump stated, "I think it was terrible."

Stating that all wars are a "terrible" thing, Trump said, "If I were president, this country would never allow the war to start. This war is something to be ashamed of."
