The accident occurred around 06:30. The passenger bus with license plate 60 TY 228, traveling in the direction of Edirne, overturned after failing to take the turn at the Sancaktepe Yenidoğan toll booths. It was reported that 4 out of the 35 passengers on the bus lost their lives, while 26 others were injured. The injured were transferred to hospitals by ambulances.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
The Istanbul Governor's Office made a statement regarding the accident. The statement said, "On Monday, August 18, 2025, at 06:15, a passenger bus traveling from Tokat to Tekirdağ on the Istanbul-North Marmara Highway (KMO) in the Paşaköy neighborhood of Sancaktepe District crashed into the barriers due to the driver's loss of control."
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED REGARDING THE ACCIDENT
According to initial determinations, 4 out of the 35 passengers on the bus lost their lives, and 26 others were injured. The injured individuals have been treated at hospitals in the area by health teams, and an investigation has been initiated regarding the incident," the statement included.
