The Çanakkale Governorship announced that Burak Arseven, who was killed after shooting his neighbor with a shotgun, had subjected his mother to violence and taken her hostage.
In Çanakkale, after injuring his neighbor while waiting on the balcony with a shotgun and clashing with the police and gendarmerie, the Çanakkale Governorship made a statement regarding the individual who was killed in the conflict.
HE HAD TAKEN HIS MOTHER HOSTAGE
In its statement, the governorship reported that the individual had subjected his mother to violence and taken her hostage. The statement from the governorship said, "On March 10, 2025 (today), following a report that the suspect named Burak Arseven, who resides with his mother Ş.A. at the address No: 7/3, Fırat Çıkmazı, Cevatpaşa Neighborhood, and has psychological issues, had subjected his mother to violence, our security units were dispatched to the address around 13:30. Upon seeing the police, the suspect took a shotgun and went out onto the balcony of his house on the first floor, taking his mother hostage."

The statement also noted, "The suspect, who began to threaten nearby citizens from his balcony with the shotgun, seriously injured his neighbor F.O. (50), who was trying to persuade him, in the abdominal area. The injured individual has been taken to the hospital, and his treatment is ongoing. Our security units have taken the necessary security measures in the area, and efforts have been made to persuade the suspect to drop his shotgun; during this time, his mother was rescued. After the suspect began firing at our police officers again around 15:40, he was neutralized at 15:50. One of our police officers was slightly injured, but there is no life-threatening condition."
