Police officer Ahmet Çavuş, who was on duty in Bayburt and had gone on leave to his hometown of Trabzon, tragically lost his life after falling into a ravine when the branch he was leaning on broke while he was cutting grass with his father in Hıdırnebi Plateau. His father, Ali Rıza Çavuş, broke his leg while trying to save his son as he fell from the cliff.

FELL FROM THE RAVINE WHEN THE BRANCH HE LEANED ON BROKE
According to the information received, police officer Ahmet Çavuş, who went to his hometown on leave, fell into a ravine of approximately 200 meters when the branch he leaned on broke while he was resting after mowing grass with his father in the plateau.
FATHER INJURED WHILE TRYING TO SAVE HIM
Father Ali Rıza Çavuş also fell into the ravine and broke his leg while trying to save his son. Upon notification, AFAD and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
POLICE OFFICER LOST HIS LIFE
In the initial checks by the medical teams, it was determined that police officer Ahmet Çavuş had lost his life. The injured father was taken to the hospital by ambulance after being rescued from the ravine.
HE LOST HIS LIFE
Upon notification, gendarmerie, AFAD, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that Ahmet Çavuş had lost his life after the teams' long efforts. The body of Ahmet Çavuş was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution after the prosecutor's examination. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
The funeral of the deceased police officer Ahmet Çavuş will be buried today (October 5, Sunday) after the noon prayer to be held at the Central Mosque in Sertkaya Neighborhood.

Bayburt Governor Mustafa Eldivan published a condolence message expressing the following:
