Israeli media reported that Tel Aviv plans to maintain its military presence in the long term at "three strategic points in and around Gaza" following the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement and the gradual withdrawal of the army from the Gaza Strip, according to U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza plan.
According to a report based on unnamed sources in the Israeli state television KAN, following the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement and the gradual withdrawal of the army from the Gaza Strip, Israeli plans to maintain its military presence in three strategic points in and around Gaza in the long term, according to U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza plan.
THEY COMMUNICATED TO THE U.S. ADMINISTRATION
Israeli officials conveyed the details of the plan, which includes the army remaining in a buffer zone within the borders of the Gaza Strip (the area was not specified), in the Philadelphi Corridor on the Egypt-Gaza Strip border, and in the "70th Hill" (Mintar Hill) area located east of the city of Gaza, to the Washington administration.
"IT IS VITAL FOR ISRAEL"
In the report, it was claimed that "these points are vital for Israel, providing it with superiority on the ground and granting it the power of surveillance and control." It was also suggested that the U.S. administration understood the necessity for Israel to remain in these points after the first phase of withdrawal was implemented.
According to the report, "The plan envisions the Israeli army withdrawing from conflict zones after the release of all prisoners. The army will temporarily remain in the yellow zone in the Gaza Strip and will then withdraw to the red zone simultaneously with the entry of foreign forces operating under U.S. authority to manage the security situation." In the final phase, "the army is expected to be stationed at the borders of the Gaza Strip, maintaining control in the Philadelphi Corridor and the 70th Hill area to continue preventing potential security threats."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Hamas announced yesterday that it accepted the prisoner exchange in Trump's Gaza plan and stated that some other items needed to be negotiated. Trump also stated, "Based on the statement just made by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombardment of Gaza so that we can safely and quickly extract the prisoners."
In a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, it was noted that the Tel Aviv administration was preparing to implement the first phase of the plan for the release of prisoners in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also expressed hope for the release of Israeli live and dead prisoners in Gaza within a week, asserting that during this process, the Israeli army's "occupation deep in Gaza will continue."
