A person who took a bag containing gold worth 600,000 lira that a woman forgot on the sidewalk in Kırıkkale was identified using a facial recognition system. The investigation revealed that the bag full of gold, which the elderly woman had left at her location, was picked up and put into the pocket of a child walking with his mother. The child's mother was detained but was released after giving her statement at the police station.
While returning home from a jeweler in Kırıkkale, H.Y. forgot a bag containing approximately 600,000 lira worth of gold on the sidewalk. The individuals who took the bag were identified through a facial recognition system. Those moments were captured by security cameras.
FORGOT THE BAG ON THE SIDEWALK AND WENT HOME
After buying gold from a jeweler in the city center, H.Y. sat on a sidewalk on Kazım Karabekir Street in the Tepebaşı neighborhood and placed the gold she bought from the jeweler into the bag containing the gold. After resting on the sidewalk for a while, the woman forgot the bag containing approximately 600,000 lira worth of gold and went home. After a while, realizing that she was not with the gold, the woman went to the police station to report it.
CAMERA WORK WAS DONE
Upon receiving the report, the teams from the Security Directorate's Public Order Branch conducted camera work in the area where the woman stopped to rest. During the camera review, it was determined that a child walking with his mother took the bag full of gold that the elderly woman had forgotten where she was sitting and put it in his pocket.
ARRESTED AT HOME
The mother of the child, Z.K., whose identity was determined through the facial recognition system, was arrested at her residence as a result of the operation. Z.K. was released after giving her statement at the police station. Approximately 600,000 TL worth of 2 bracelets, 7 grams of gold, 1 framed gold necklace, 1 solitaire gold ring, 1 pair of gold earrings, 1 gold bracelet, 2 half gold coins, and 12 quarter gold coins were returned to H.Y.
