The Ministry of Interior has reached the final stage of the action plan it has been working on for months.
With the regulation planned to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) this week, it has been learned that the deterrent effect of traffic fines will be increased, and a 'license cancellation' penalty will be applied to drivers for many offenses. The commission discussions regarding the regulation, which includes changes to traffic fines, are expected to start on Friday.
ALL OF THESE LICENSES WILL BE CANCELLED
According to the provisions in the bill, drivers' licenses will be completely revoked for repeated red light violations.
The current fine of 2,167 TL for running a red light will be increased to 5,000 TL for the first violation, 10,000 TL for the second violation, and 15,000 TL for the third violation with the new regulation.
Additionally, drivers who violate red lights 3 times within a calendar year will have their licenses suspended for 30 days, for the fourth violation 60 days, and for the fifth violation 90 days. If it is determined that a driver has passed a red light 6 times or more within the same year, their license will be completely revoked, and a fine of 80,000 TL will be imposed.
THOSE WHO GET OUT OF THEIR VEHICLE WILL LOSE THEIR LICENSE
On the other hand, with the changes in traffic fines, an effective fight will be pursued to penalize reckless drivers. Drivers who leave their vehicles to fight during traffic flow will have their licenses temporarily confiscated.
Those who disrupt traffic flow with convoys during military send-offs, weddings, and various celebration events, and those who fire weapons into the air during the convoy will have their licenses permanently revoked. After the license cancellation, these individuals will have to wait for one year and take a written and driving test to obtain a new license.
