The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) announced that temperatures, which have been ranging between 6-9 degrees, will drop below 5 degrees, returning to winter values as of Monday, February 2.

TEMPERATURES IN ISTANBUL WILL DROP TO 5 DEGREES

In a statement from AKOM, it was warned that air temperatures would drop below 5 degrees starting from Monday, February 2, and that heavy rain and stormy weather with strong downpours would continue until Wednesday, February 4.

In AKOM's statement, it was noted: "Starting from today’s afternoon hours, effective rain showers, occasionally accompanied by storms, are expected in the Marmara Region, especially in Istanbul, until the upcoming Wednesday. It is predicted that temperatures, which are currently ranging between 6-9 degrees, will decline to winter values below 5 degrees as of Monday.

With the arrival of cold air expected from Monday morning, temperatures are anticipated to drop to snow values; it is predicted that in our western regions such as Silivri, Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Büyükçekmece, and Başakşehir, precipitation may occur in the form of mixed rain and snow. Therefore, it is important for our citizens to be prepared and cautious against winter conditions."

The highest temperature is expected to be 10 °C.
