Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center announced that air temperatures in Istanbul and the Marmara Region will drop below 5 degrees starting from February 2, and strong downpours and storms are expected. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) announced that temperatures, which have been ranging between 6-9 degrees, will drop below 5 degrees, returning to winter values as of Monday, February 2.
TEMPERATURES IN ISTANBUL WILL DROP TO 5 DEGREES
In a statement from AKOM, it was warned that air temperatures would drop below 5 degrees starting from Monday, February 2, and that heavy rain and stormy weather with strong downpours would continue until Wednesday, February 4.
In AKOM's statement, it was noted: "Starting from today’s afternoon hours, effective rain showers, occasionally accompanied by storms, are expected in the Marmara Region, especially in Istanbul, until the upcoming Wednesday. It is predicted that temperatures, which are currently ranging between 6-9 degrees, will decline to winter values below 5 degrees as of Monday.
With the arrival of cold air expected from Monday morning, temperatures are anticipated to drop to snow values; it is predicted that in our western regions such as Silivri, Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Büyükçekmece, and Başakşehir, precipitation may occur in the form of mixed rain and snow. Therefore, it is important for our citizens to be prepared and cautious against winter conditions."

The Istanbul Governorate also shared the General Directorate of Meteorology's 4-day weather assessment on its social media account, drawing attention to the fact that air temperatures in Istanbul will decrease starting from Sunday.
The Istanbul Governorate's post is as follows: "Air temperatures in Istanbul will decrease starting from Sunday. According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology; it is predicted that the weather in Istanbul will be: Saturday (31.01.2026) very cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers expected from the afternoon hours. The highest temperature is expected to be 10 °C.
On Sunday (01.02.2026), it is expected to start with very cloudy weather, with intermittent rain and showers, which are predicted to be locally heavy. The lowest temperature is expected to be 5 °C, and the highest temperature is expected to be 8 °C. On Monday (02.02.2026), it is predicted to be very cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers. It is expected that the precipitation will be locally heavy, with the lowest temperature expected to be 6 °C and the highest temperature expected to be 8 °C.
On Tuesday (03.02.2026), it is expected to be partly and very cloudy. The lowest temperature is expected to be 2 °C, and the highest temperature is expected to be 7 °C.
