The leader of the Great Unity Party, Mustafa Destici, stated, "As we have expressed before, the death penalty should be reinstated for two crimes. The first is for the monsters who abuse and then kill our children and women, and the second is for the terrorists who directly pull the trigger or detonate bombs, martyring our soldiers, police officers, and teachers."
BBP General Chairman Mustafa Destici met with party officials and members of the press as part of the Konya program within the scope of the Central Anatolia Region Workshop organized by his party. Starting his speech by celebrating 'Mother's Day', Destici addressed the issues of violence and murders against women and children.
DESTİCİ: PENALTIES ARE NOT SUFFICIENT IN TERMS OF DETERRENCE
Destici stated; "In Turkey, we see that the penalties given in incidents that end in death neither establish justice nor are unfortunately sufficient in terms of deterrence. If we give a few recent examples. A man killed his two children, and the two who survived barely escaped with their lives, and he served 16 years and was released. The latest incident in Sivas involved the brutal murder of two innocent children due to a feud with their father. He has many previous convictions, a criminal record. We experienced all of these just last week.
"THOSE WHO MURDERED OUR NARIN SHOULD NEVER BE RELEASED"
In Istanbul, a man wants to forcibly take his ex-wife back. The woman resists because she knows what will happen to her and is murdered in the middle of the street. He also has a criminal record. We can multiply these examples. Narin is gone, and the case is still not resolved. We can give many more examples like this, such as the case of baby Sıla. Therefore, to prevent these incidents from happening again, we need to take measures regarding both the prevention and the aftermath. The penalties must be reviewed, and life imprisonment without parole must definitely be included in our Turkish Penal Code. A monster who injures both children and would have killed them if he had not fled should never be able to get out of prison again, nor should those who committed that atrocity against baby Sıla or those who murdered our Narin or those who killed two innocent young people in Sivas be released. They are being released.
"THE DEATH PENALTY MUST BE REINSTATED"
Statistics are clear; two-thirds of those who go in and out of prison commit crimes again and cost another life. Therefore, penalties must definitely be reviewed. Life imprisonment without parole must be implemented. As we have previously stated, the death penalty should be reinstated for two crimes. The first is for the monsters who abuse and then kill our children and women at such a young age, and the second is for terrorists who directly shoot our soldiers, police officers, and teachers by pulling the trigger or detonating bombs. The death penalty should be reinstated for these two crimes.
