A fire at a nightclub in the state of Goa, India, resulted in the deaths of 25 people and injured 50 others. An administrative investigation has been initiated following the fire.
In a nightclub fire in the Indian state of Goa, 25 people lost their lives, including 4 tourists and 14 employees, while 50 others were injured. The fire broke out at a nightclub named Birch by Romeo Lane, located in Arpora, Goa, which opened its doors last year, approximately 25 kilometers from the state capital, Panaji. The police reported that the fire alert was received at 00:04 local time. It was learned that at least 4 of the deceased were tourists and 14 were club employees.
"I HAVE ORDERED AN ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION"
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated in a press release after the fire, "I have ordered an administrative investigation into the cause of the fire in Arpora village and to determine responsibility." Sawant mentioned that the condition of 6 of the injured is stable and that they are receiving medical care.
COMPENSATION WILL BE PAID
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he spoke with Sawant and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, announcing that each family of those who lost their lives in the fire would receive 200,000 rupees (2,200 dollars) and the injured would receive 50,000 rupees (550 dollars) in compensation.
