After the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Antalya at midnight, there was another frightening tremor of 4.9 today. The series of earthquakes in the city has caused great panic, and it is noteworthy that these tremors occurred following the warning from earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Osman Bektaş, who stated that "the Antalya Gulf must be prepared for a 6.4 earthquake."
Turkey continues to be shaken like a cradle after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, with alarming news coming in succession from Antalya.
2 EARTHQUAKES IN A ROW
Last night, Antalya was shaken by a magnitude of 4.3, and according to AFAD data, another tremor of 4.9 magnitude occurred today at 13:21.
PROFESSOR HAS CLEARLY WARNED
While the consecutive earthquakes in Antalya caused great panic among citizens, it has emerged that earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Osman Bektaş warned about the situation after the first earthquake.
"ANTALYA GULF MUST BE READY FOR A 6.4 EARTHQUAKE"
In a warning shared on X, Bektaş stated, "The Antalya Gulf must be ready for a 6.4 earthquake! Why? The seismicity in the Isparta bend fault pair, created by the entry of the Aegean-Cyprus ridge into the Antalya Gulf, has continued with earthquakes of magnitudes 4-5 (especially in Alanya) since 2020."
