Emine Kinvan, the mother of 19-year-old Muhammet, who has severe autism and has been staying at a care center in Antalya for about 6 months, went to the cliffs. Kinvan cried, "They made room for cats and dogs in this city, but they couldn't make room for my child. I just wanted to be close to my child. I do not forgive those who brought me to this state."
Emine Kinvan, the mother of 19-year-old Muhammet, who has been staying at a care center in Antalya for about 6 months and does not want him to be transferred to another city, went to the cliffs. Kinvan, who said she did not receive any results from her applications and was convinced after long efforts, wept, saying, "I just wanted to be close to my child."
The eldest of the three children of Emine and Süleyman Kinvan, who live in the Kepez district, Muhammet was taken to the doctor by his family when he was 3 years old due to their suspicions about his movements. During the examination, Muhammet was diagnosed with severe autism. After this diagnosis, the family's life changed. The couple later had two more children, whom they named Ayşegül and Şeyma. Ayşegül was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes, and Şeyma was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. In the last 2 years, Muhammet, who has been exhibiting aggressive behaviors, assaulted his teachers at the school he attended, began to assault family members recently, and occasionally damaged household items, was placed in a care center last August at the request of his family and with the intervention of the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
'I WANTED TO BE CLOSE TO MY CHILD'
Muhammet, who has been staying at the care home for 6 months, met with his family and siblings who came to see him on visiting days. Mother Emine Kinvan, on the other hand, started going to the care center from time to time to see her son from a distance. However, Kinvan said she was shocked by a phone call she received recently, stating that Muhammet would be sent to another city. Explaining that her son would be sent to a city miles away because he could not adapt, Kinvan asked for help, stating that she would not be able to see her son.
Claiming that her voice was not heard, Emine Kinvan went to the cliffs this morning. After those who saw Kinvan, who went to the edge of the cliff about 40 meters high and stood there, reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police, health, and fire teams were dispatched to the area. Kinvan, who did not allow anyone to approach her, remained unconvinced despite hours of efforts. The woman, who wept where she sat, said she wanted her child to stay in Antalya.
CONVINCED AFTER 2.5 HOURS
Demet Çileli, the president of the Mediterranean Autism Sports Club Association, came to the area and started talking to Kinvan. After approximately 2.5 hours of waiting, Kinvan was convinced. The woman, who wept and embraced her relatives, could not be calmed down for a long time. Kinvan, who was taken to the police station with her husband to give a statement, said, "They managed to fit cats and dogs into this city, but they couldn't fit my child. I just wanted to be close to my child. Even animals do not leave their young; how can I leave mine? I do not forgive those who brought me to this state."
