The trial of the nurse who was arrested in Kahramanmaraş in 2021 for allegedly abusing a baby at the university hospital continued.
During the hearing held at the 10th Criminal Court of First Instance in Kahramanmaraş, the detained defendant Hazel Dırık Bağrıyanık participated via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS), and the lawyers of both parties were present in the courtroom. Defendant Bağrıyanık denied the charges against her in her defense and requested her acquittal.
"I AM A MOTHER TOO"
Claiming that the incident did not originate from her, Bağrıyanık stated that she acted with a momentary reflex. The defendant, who also mentioned that she has a baby, argued that there was no intent to harm and expressed her regret, stating that she wanted to be tried without detention.
REQUEST FROM THE LAWYER FOR "HEARINGS TO BE HELD IN PRIVATE"
The defendant's lawyer requested her release and asked for the hearings to be held in private for the healthy progress of the trial, arguing that the case had been misrepresented to the press. The plaintiff's lawyer stated that they did not accept the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) report, requested a new report, and sought the continuation of the defendant's detention.
HEARING POSTPONED TO APRIL 1
The court, announcing its interim decision, rejected the defendant lawyer's requests for release and for the trial to be held in private, deciding to maintain the current status of the detained defendant. The court postponed the hearing to April 1 to address the missing issues.
