A businessman in Bulancak district of Giresun was shocked when his luxury SUV, which he purchased through a notary sale from a gallery and had been using without any issues for about a year, was seized due to a detention order issued by customs. The vehicle, which was learned to have been sold 19 times before, was towed to an impound lot under police supervision.
Businessman Dursun Karahasan, who lives in the Bulancak district of Giresun, purchased a luxury brand SUV model 2010 through a notary from a car dealership about a year ago.
HE EXPERIENCED THE SHOCK OF HIS LIFE WHEN HE STARTED TO CONVERT
After the notary procedures and expert checks, Karahasan stated that he has been using the vehicle for a year, having it inspected and paying its taxes. However, Karahasan expressed that he was stopped during a police check the night before, saying, "Without any justification, it was stated that there was an arrest warrant for the vehicle, and it was taken to the parking lot by a tow truck. Later, in our research, we learned that the vehicle was wanted by customs."
"HOW CAN THERE BE NO ISSUE WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN SOLD 19 TIMES?"
Stating that he learned the vehicle had changed hands 19 times before him, Karahasan said, "I bought this vehicle through a notary sale from the dealership. There was no issue at the notary, in the expert report, or in our research. Why has there been no issue with a 2010 model vehicle that has been sold 19 times until now? I trusted the state's notary. If I bought the vehicle through a notary from the dealership, what is my fault? We also cannot get information about the reason for the arrest from customs," he said.
