The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, answered the question that students have been eagerly waiting for: "Will mid-term breaks be abolished in schools?"
"WE ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND A CALENDAR TO CRAMP 36 WEEKS"
The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, responded to the question regarding whether mid-term breaks will be abolished in schools. Speaking on TVNET, Minister Tekin stated that they are struggling to fit the 180-day education calendar due to official and religious holidays, saying, "We will make a decision after this year's field research."
Tekin said:
"Since we start on October 29 after schools begin; January 1, Nowruz, May 1, Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha create a very busy holiday calendar. On the one hand, we need to provide 180 working days of education. Since our teachers' holidays cannot be less than two months legally, they are already on holiday during that period, but we are struggling to find a calendar that can fit these 36 weeks due to these intense holidays.
"WE WILL DECIDE AFTER THIS YEAR'S FIELD RESEARCH"
For example, in 2027, Ramadan, Eid al-Adha, and mid-term breaks will all fall within that spring semester, and it is difficult to arrange these. We are evaluating all these parameters together. We will make a decision after this year's field research."
