In Mardin, a person took a 17-year-old boy, whom he claimed had stolen his pigeons, to a barn and tortured him. The suspect stripped the boy of his pants and t-shirt, leaving him in his underwear, then first assaulted him and later threatened, "I will unleash the dog on you. I will kill you." Following a complaint, the suspect was detained, but was released after the boy withdrew his complaint under threat.
In the rural Harmantepe neighborhood of the Savur district in Mardin, it is claimed that a person took a 17-year-old boy, who lives in the village with his father, to the barn, alleging that he "stole his pigeons."
HE STRIPPED THE CHILD AND TORTURED HIM
The suspect, who removed the child's pants and t-shirt, assaulted him to make him reveal the location of the pigeons. The suspect then threatened to unleash his dog, which he had brought to the barn, on the child.
MINUTES OF TERROR CAPTURED ON CAMERA
In the footage, the suspect is heard saying to the child, "You will bring my pigeons no matter where they are," to which the child responds, "Uncle, I swear they are not with me." The suspect is then seen hitting the child while saying, "There is no uncle, there is nothing with me. There is a security camera at the door, how can you say it's not with me, son?" The child insists, "I swear it's not with me," and the suspect continues to hit him, saying, "How is it not with you, son? It is with you." The footage also captures the suspect pointing to the dog in the barn and saying, "I swear if you don't bring them, I will unleash the dog on you. I will kill you with a gun." The person filming the minutes-long violence is heard saying, "Enough. It's a sin."
THE SUSPECT WAS RELEASED
After a while, the suspect was detained upon the child's complaint, who was released later. It is claimed that the child withdrew his complaint due to the threats he received. The suspect was released after giving his statement.
"WITHDRAWING THE COMPLAINT DOES NOT LEGITIMIZE TORTURE"
The child's mother, who lives separately from her family, stated that she could not reach her son and that his father was preventing their meetings, expressing her concerns for his safety. She shared footage of the moments of violence on social media with the note, "Withdrawing the complaint does not legitimize torture. I want the authorities to accept the video as evidence and take immediate action."
