The food consumed by the Böcek family, who died in Istanbul's Fatih district under suspicion of poisoning, has been analyzed. The mussels and kokoreç (a type of grilled intestines) tested clean; however, it was noted that the samples were taken 1.5 days later, so they were not exactly the same as the products consumed by the family.
In Istanbul, a mother and her two children from the Böcek family have died due to allegations of 'food poisoning', while the father, Servet Böcek, is being treated in intensive care. The Provincial Health Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner, stated in a press release that father Servet Böcek has passed away. Güner said, "After the mother and two children of the Böcek family, who were taken to the hospital after falling ill in Fatih, father Servet Böcek has also passed away despite all interventions. I wish God's mercy upon the deceased family members and condolences to their relatives. Our investigation into the incident is being carried out meticulously," he stated.
4 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN POISONING TRAGEDY
Following the incident, 11 suspects, including the owner of the café where the Böcek family dined in Ortaköy, a mussel seller, a kokoreç seller, and a Turkish delight seller, as well as hotel staff and employees of a pest control company, were taken into custody. The mussel seller Yusuf D., café owner Fatih Mustafa O., kokoreç seller Ercan E., and Turkish delight seller Fatih T. were referred to the courthouse after their procedures were completed at the police station. The suspects were arrested by the Magistrate's Court and sent to prison.
A new development has occurred in the case. According to journalist Dilek Yaman Demir's report, samples were taken from the mussels and kokoreç consumed by the family. The results of the analyzed samples have been released.
It was determined that the kokoreç and mussels were suitable for consumption. While the kokoreç and mussels tested clean, it was noted that the samples were not identical to the products consumed by the family as they were taken 1.5 days later.
The laboratory results of samples taken from the Turkish delight obtained from the nuts/spices shop have not yet arrived.
