Devastating news has come from the forest fire in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that 14 of the 24 people trapped in the fire while intervening in the flames have been hospitalized, and that 5 forest workers and 5 AKUT (Search and Rescue Association) members have lost their lives.

Five forest workers and five AKUT employees became martyrs in the fire in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir.

TRAPPED IN THE FLAMES OF THE FIRE

The fire that broke out yesterday morning in a region near the Büyükyayla and Fethiye neighborhoods of Seyitgazi district in Eskişehir spread to the rural Sarıcaova neighborhood of Afyonkarahisar. During the cooling efforts, some members of the team who were caught in the middle of the fire were injured when the flames suddenly flared up, while some members went missing. It was learned that 12 injured individuals were rescued as a result of the search and rescue operations.

CONDOLENCES MESSAGE FROM THE SPEAKER OF THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, published a condolence message for the martyr forest workers. In his message, Kurtulmuş stated: "Our hearts are broken with the pain of our forest workers who walked to martyrdom while intervening in the forest fire in Seyitgazi. I pray for God's mercy on our self-sacrificing heroes who risked their lives to protect our green homeland, and I wish patience to their grieving families and loved ones. May our nation be consoled."
