After the water level at the Kutlu Aktaş Dam in the Çeşme district of İzmir dropped to 12%, the feared situation has occurred. It has been stated that the dam's water level can only meet the needs for 10 days. Starting from Friday, water will be cut off every day between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. If this measure is not sufficient, water cuts are also expected during the daytime.
In Çeşme, one of the popular tourist centers of İzmir, due to a significant drop in the water level at the Kutlu Aktaş Dam, water cuts will be implemented at certain intervals in the coming days.
WATER LEVEL IN THE DAM IS 12 PERCENT
The Kutlu Aktaş Dam, which is one of the most important sources of water for the tourist district of Çeşme, has seen its water level drop to critical levels. The lack of sufficient rainfall during the dry winter and spring months, as well as the summer, has seriously affected the dam's filling rate. According to the latest data, the water level in the dam has fallen to 12 percent.
ONLY 10 DAYS OF WATER LEFT
It is stated that this level can only meet Çeşme's water needs for approximately 10 days. Especially during this period, when water consumption has increased due to the hot weather, it is assessed that the water loss in the dam may accelerate even further. Authorities have indicated that some measures will be implemented to ensure that the existing water lasts longer.
WATER WILL BE CUT OFF EVERY NIGHT
In this context, it is planned to implement water cuts initially between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. If this measure is not sufficient, it has been reported that cuts may also be shifted to daytime hours. The measures taken are expected to contribute to the conservation of resources by reducing water consumption. While İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Çeşme Municipality are taking coordinated action against the water shortage, they have also called on citizens to be sensitive about water conservation.
