WHAT HAPPENED?

Bahar Aksu was brutally murdered by her ex-husband on Monday, May 5, at 06:30 in the morning on Kazım Orbay Street in Şişli while she was on her way to work. Aksu had initially been attempted to be kidnapped by her ex-husband and his friends. After resisting for a long time to get into the car, Aksu was shot and killed by her ex-husband Rüstem Elibol.

It was revealed that Elibol, who was captured after the incident, had come to Istanbul from Çanakkale with his friends three days before the incident and had stayed overnight, conducting reconnaissance at the crime scene. It was determined that Elibol returned to Çanakkale after this reconnaissance. When he was caught after killing Aksu, he told the police, "We got married in 2019. We divorced three years later. I could not accept this divorce."

In the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch Directorate, it was determined that in 2020, Bahar Aksu had filed two separate complaints against the suspect for threats and intentional injury, and there were no ongoing protective orders between them.
