The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will initiate an investigation into accounts that share claims that suspects benefiting from the effective remorse provisions in the investigation conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and Ekrem İmamoğlu were coerced, pressured, and threatened during their statements.

The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the suspended detained president Ekrem İmamoğlu is ongoing. As part of the investigation, some suspects who are being investigated for the crimes of "tampering with a tender," "bribery," "extortion," "forgery of official documents," and "establishing, managing, and being a member of a criminal organization for profit" are applying to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office through their lawyers with written petitions to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse. The statements of the suspects giving testimony are being taken along with their lawyers, and after the documents containing the statements are read by the suspects and their lawyers, they are signed. The statements given are being investigated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In this context, it has been learned that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will initiate an ex officio investigation into the accounts that made posts claiming that statements on social media were obtained through pressure, coercion, and threats, on the grounds that there is an intention to influence the ongoing investigation.
