Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler spoke at the 'Turkey-Indonesia Joint Meeting of Foreign and Defense Ministers'. Referring to the ongoing clashes between the SDF and the Syrian army in Aleppo, Minister Fidan stated, "We support the fight against terrorist organizations. We expect the SDF to comply with the March 10 agreement and fulfill its obligations." While the operation launched by the Syrian Army against the terrorist organization PKK-SDG continues in the city of Aleppo, Syria; two important statements came from the Turkish front.
WARNING FROM MINISTERS FIDAN AND GÜLER
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler spoke at the 'Turkey-Indonesia Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers Joint Meeting.'
Minister Fidan stated, "Today we had a meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister, and we are closely monitoring the situation. It is important to ensure public order in Syria. We support the fight against terrorist organizations. We expect the SDG to comply with the March 10 agreement and fulfill its obligations," he said.
YAŞAR GÜLER: WE ARE CLOSELY MONITORING
Minister Güler said, "I want to emphasize that we, as Turkey, are closely monitoring the recent developments in Syria. We express that we support the fight against terrorist organizations based on the principle of a single state and a single army, considering Syria's security as our own security and on the basis of Syria's unity and territorial integrity."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Since January 6, the terrorist organization YPG has carried out attacks on many points in Aleppo from the regions it occupies. The Damascus administration had requested YPG to comply with the March 10 Agreement and to end the attacks in Aleppo. Following the continuation of YPG's attacks, the Syrian army launched pinpoint operations against the positions of the terrorist organization in the Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo, which it occupies. In the attacks carried out by the terrorist organization since January 6, 9 Syrians have lost their lives, and 55 people, mostly civilians, have been injured. The Aleppo City Center Committee announced that the number of those evacuated to safe areas in Aleppo is 142,000.
