The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that some of the areas specified in Greece's declared "Maritime Spatial Planning" violate Turkey's maritime jurisdiction in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. The statement emphasized, "We reiterate that Greece's unilateral actions and claims will have no legal consequences for our country."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "We reiterate that Greece's unilateral actions and claims will have no legal consequences for our country" regarding the "Marine Spatial Planning" announced by Greece in accordance with European Union (EU) legislation.
"GREECE IS VIOLATING OUR MARITIME ZONES"
In a written statement from the Ministry, it was noted that "some of the areas specified in the 'Marine Spatial Planning' (MSP) announced by Greece under EU legislation violate our maritime jurisdiction areas in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean."
The statement reminded that unilateral actions should be avoided in enclosed or semi-enclosed seas such as the Aegean and Mediterranean, and that international maritime law promotes cooperation on environmental issues among coastal states in these seas, emphasizing that Turkey is always ready for cooperation with Greece in the Aegean Sea.

The statement included the expression, "We reiterate that Greece's unilateral actions and claims will have no legal consequences for our country," emphasizing that these actions and fait accompli attempts will have no legal consequences for Turkey today, tomorrow, or as it did yesterday.
The statement included the following expressions: "Turkey maintains its position that a sincere and comprehensive approach should be adopted for the resolution of issues based on international law, fairness, and good neighborliness within the framework of the Friendly Relations and Good Neighborliness Declaration of Athens dated December 7, 2023, which reflects the spirit both sides wish to maintain in their relations with Greece. The Marine Spatial Planning prepared by our country is also being communicated to the relevant units of UNESCO and the United Nations."
