In the 'Last Prescription' operation carried out in Adana, 69 suspects were detained in connection with a gang that obtained drugs through fraudulent prescriptions and sold them both domestically and internationally. 34 of them were arrested, and precautionary measures were taken on assets worth 87 million lira.

In an operation named 'Last Prescription' targeting a gang identified as having illegally sold medications obtained through fraudulent prescriptions using identity numbers acquired for money in 10 provinces centered around Adana, 69 suspects were detained. Among the suspects, 34 were arrested, and a precautionary measure was placed on their assets valued at 87 million lira. The Social Security Institution (SGK) continues its work to determine the public damage.

TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL SURVEILLANCE WAS CONDUCTED ON IDENTIFIED SUSPECTS

Teams from the Fraud Bureau of the Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch conducted an operation against the gang identified as selling antibiotics, insulin, painkillers, and some narcotic pills subject to red and green prescriptions, which they obtained through fraudulent prescriptions. The teams, which initiated technical and physical surveillance, identified 69 suspects, including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and drug warehouse employees working in state hospitals. It was determined that some of the medications obtained by the suspects were sold to drug addicts, while some were smuggled abroad. As part of the investigation, it was found that the suspects arranged prescriptions in the name of relatives, acquaintances, and people from their neighborhoods who provided their identity numbers for money, to a doctor named U.U. It was also determined that the suspects sold medications obtained from pharmacies in Adana and Diyarbakır, where they acted together with fraudulent prescriptions.

FRAUDULENT REPORT WITH DUMMY PATIENTS

On the other hand, it was determined that suspects S.I. and R.O., who are Hepatitis C patients, went to the hospital with gang members to give blood and urine tests, and health reports were arranged for individuals who were not patients. It was revealed that the medications obtained through prescriptions written with the help of dummy patients were sold illegally.

Police teams, with these findings, launched an operation named 'Last Prescription' on February 16, centered in Adana, with simultaneous raids in İzmir, Konya, Mersin, Diyarbakır, Antalya, Muğla, Batman, Osmaniye, and Mardin. The teams detained 69 suspects who had arrest warrants against them. During the searches at the addresses, 1622 boxes of various types of medications and numerous digital materials were seized.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES WERE APPLIED TO THE SUSPECTS' ASSETS

The suspects taken to the police denied the charges against them during their interrogations, claiming the money transactions among them were 'debt-claim'. After their processing, 34 of the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought to, 25 were released under judicial control, and 10 were released by the prosecutor's instruction. Additionally, it was reported that the Social Security Institution (SGK) continues its work to determine the public damage. A precautionary measure was applied to the suspects' assets valued at approximately 87 million lira.
