In the Datça district of Muğla, the district was quarantined and closed to the entry and exit of animals due to the detection of 'blue tongue disease' in a goat.

Upon observing a nasal discharge in a goat in the rural Hızırşah Neighborhood of Datça, the situation was reported to the District Agriculture Directorate by the farm owners. As a result of clinical examinations and laboratory analyses conducted by the District Agriculture Directorate teams, findings of 'blue tongue disease' were detected in the goat.
THE DISTRICT HAS BEEN QUARANTINED
To prevent the spread of the disease and protect animal health, a quarantine application has been implemented for 40 days throughout the district, from the rural Emecik Neighborhood to Yazıköy Neighborhood, and the entry and exit of animals has been halted. A warning sign regarding the quarantine has been placed at the district entrance.
TRANSMITTED BY MIDGES
It has been stated that blue tongue disease is transmitted by 'Culicoides' genus midges; it is observed in small ruminants like goats and sheep, as well as in large ruminants like cattle, and there is no adverse effect on human health, and their meat can be consumed.
