ÖZEL RESPONDS TO BAHÇELİ'S CALL
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel responded to Bahçeli's call towards İmamoğlu during his party's group meeting today. Özel said, "I find the emphasis that State Bey places on the swift conduct of the trials, and if he is innocent, he should be released, valuable. Since we value the votes given by the people.
Just a year ago, İmamoğlu was appointed to Istanbul with the votes of one in two people. What do you say about his trial without detention, returning to his duty during the trial, and I add, the trials being conducted openly and transparently from every channel that requests it from TRT? We can meet with you here, for a fast and fair trial. If the crime is proven, imprisonment; if acquitted, return to duty and trial without detention and trial on television," he expressed.
WHAT DID DEVLET BAHÇELİ SAY?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had stated the following in a post he made on his X account; "The court processes regarding the suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is surrounded by allegations of theft, bribery, and corruption in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, must be urgently reviewed and concluded.
Witness statements, along with clear and genuine evidence, as well as other relevant information, documents, and findings, must be fully added to the case file, and the stages of prosecution must be completed. If the suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu is found innocent, he should be acquitted; otherwise, his punishment must be ensured in accordance with the public conscience, and this should be done as soon as possible."
