The US announced new sanctions against Iran's nuclear program ahead of direct talks in Oman.

SANCTIONS ON 5 IRANIAN ENTITIES AND 1 INDIVIDUAL

The State Department announced that the Treasury Department has added 5 Iranian entities and 1 individual to the sanctions list for supporting the activities of key organizations that manage and oversee Iran's nuclear program.

"THE US WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD ACCOUNTABLE THOSE WHO ATTEMPT TO SUPPORT IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAM"

The State Department stated, "This step was taken to support President Trump's 'maximum pressure policy' against Iran. The targets include individuals and entities that supply or produce critical technologies for TESA (Iranian Centrifuge Technology Company) and AEOI (Iranian Atomic Energy Organization). The US will continue to hold accountable those who attempt to support Iran's nuclear program, particularly its uranium enrichment activities." The statement indicated that the Treasury Department's sanctions were carried out under the Executive Order 13382 on Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, stating, "This order targets those who assist and support the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."

IRAN AND THE US WILL MEET IN OMAN ON APRIL 12

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi announced that following US President Donald Trump's statement, "We are having direct talks with Iran, and the talks will continue on Saturday," discussions with the US will take place on Saturday, April 12. Arakchi stated, "Iran and the US will hold indirect high-level talks in Oman on Saturday. This meeting is both an opportunity and a test. The ball is now in the US's court."
