According to a report by the BBC, 44-year-old anesthesiologist Dr. Suhail Anjum requested a break during surgery, asking a colleague to monitor the male patient. However, Dr. Anjum went to another operating room and engaged in a relationship with a woman referred to as "Nurse C."
COLLEAGUE CAUGHT HIM
The incident came to light when a nurse who caught the pair in the act reported the situation to her supervisor. The scandal was brought up during Dr. Anjum's competency hearing for reapplying to work in England.
"A ONE-OFF MISTAKE" DEFENSE
During the hearing, Dr. Anjum stated that he wanted to continue his career in England, claiming that he made a "one-off judgment error." In his statement, he said, "It was, at the very least, quite embarrassing. The only guilty party is me."
