IT ALL STARTED WITH THE NEPHEW'S CONFESSION
As part of the investigation, Mayor Kara's nephew, Hüseyin Cem Gül, confessed in his additional statement to the prosecutor's office that he delivered some of the bribe money to Abdullah Doğukan Kayhan, who is said to be a close friend of Kara, upon Kara's instructions. Kayhan, in his statement, admitted that he hid the money he received in an agricultural warehouse upon Mayor Kara's instructions.
GOLD AND FOREIGN CURRENCY FOUND IN THE WAREHOUSE SEARCH
During the search and location identification operations conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, 3 kilograms of gold bars, 500,000 Euros, and 153,160 Dollars were seized, hidden in the warehouse. Authorities stated that the found gold and foreign currency constitute concrete evidence of the corruption and bribery allegations within the municipality.
