During an inspection at a chain supermarket in Avcılar, a large number of products with expiration dates that had passed by 10 months and with damaged packaging were confiscated. The products were sent to the District Agricultural Directorate.
During an inspection carried out by the municipal police teams in Avcılar, Istanbul, a large number of products that could endanger human health were found in a chain supermarket. During the checks at the supermarket in Denizköşkler Neighborhood, it was determined that products with expiration dates that had expired months ago were being offered for sale.
EXPIRATION DATES EXCEEDED BY 10 MONTHS
It was observed that many food items such as sea bass, lahmacun, dumplings, and pastries were stacked on top of each other in the freezer. It was determined that the rule requiring products like fish to be stored in separate sections was not followed. It was revealed that some products had expiration dates that were 3 months past, while others were approximately 10 months overdue.
MUNICIPAL POLICE SEIZED THE PRODUCTS
The teams of the Avcılar Municipality Police Department seized products that had expired and had damaged packaging. Food items were placed in black bags, sealed, and a report was prepared. The seized products were sent to the District Agriculture Directorate.
Police Chief Osman Mutlu stated, "We have identified a large number of products that could endanger human health, both with damaged packaging and expired expiration dates. We placed the products in black bags and sealed them, then we prepared our reports and they will be sent to the District Agriculture Directorate."
