In the second wave of operations related to the bribery investigation against Şile Municipality, 15 out of 22 suspects who were detained were arrested. Previously, 5 people had already been arrested in the investigation.
Five suspects, including Mayor Özgür Kabadayı, have been arrested as part of the investigation into Şile Municipality, where 15 of the 22 suspects detained have been remanded in custody.
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing its investigation into Şile Municipality for the crimes of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "bribery," "corruption," and "manipulating a tender."
A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED
The processing of the 22 suspects detained as part of the investigation into the criminal organization has been completed at the police station. After undergoing a health check, the suspects were transferred to the Anatolian Courthouse.
The prosecutor's office requested the detention of 15 of the suspects whose statements were taken and referred 5 of them to the duty magistrate for judicial control. The other 2 suspects who were detained were released by the prosecutor's office due to health issues. The court ruled for the detention of the 15 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Six suspects, including Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı, were detained on July 10 as part of the investigation into the crimes of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "bribery," "corruption," and "manipulating a tender."
Mayor Kabadayı, along with Oğuz Kaçmaz, Tuncay Tolga Özçakmak, Ali Şafak, and Evren Buçhan, were arrested after being referred to the duty magistrate by the prosecutor's office with a request for their detention. The magistrate ruled for Aslı Kotan to be released under judicial control in the form of a signature.
In the investigation aimed at deciphering the criminal organization, it was determined that 22 other suspects were involved in the crimes subject to the investigation when examining the call records and account movements in the MASAK report.
The 22 suspects, for whom an arrest warrant was issued by the chief public prosecutor's office, were detained in a simultaneous operation carried out on December 23.
