A woman identifying as "vegan" on the Galata Bridge said she would buy a bucket full of about 2.5 kilos of horse mackerel from 65-year-old Ahmet Gökçebay, then poured it into the sea. The woman, who made disrespectful remarks like "I'll put one in for you," ran away from the scene without paying the elderly man the promised money.
An astonishing event occurred early in the morning at the Galata Bridge in Istanbul. Despite the cold weather, 65-year-old Ahmet Gökçebay came to the bridge at 7:00 AM to fish and caught approximately 2.5 kilograms of horse mackerel by noon.
"I'M A VEGAN," SHE SAID, AND THREW THE FISH INTO THE SEA
An unidentified woman approached Gökçebay and said she would buy the fish. Gökçebay responded positively to this offer. Shortly after, the woman, who stated that she was vegan, took the bucket full of fish and emptied it into the sea. This action led to a dispute between the woman and the fisherman.
"I'LL THROW ONE AT YOU"
Ahmet Gökçebay, who caught the fish, reacted to the situation by saying he had waited in the cold for hours and put in a lot of effort. Gökçebay expressed his discontent to the woman, saying, "What right do you have to throw my fish into the sea?" while the woman disrespectfully replied, "I'll throw one at you."
"DON'T EAT ANIMALS, PRODUCE ALTERNATIVES"
According to ATV News; during the argument, the woman, emphasizing that she was vegan, defended herself by saying, "Don't eat animals, produce alternatives." Citizens nearby expressed that they did not find it right to interfere with someone else's hard work in this way. As the argument escalated, the woman quickly left the scene.
SHE DIDN'T PAY, RAN AWAY
After throwing the fish into the sea, which she had said she would pay for, the woman, who then said, "I have no money," took advantage of the tension in the environment and ran away.
