In the investigation regarding bribery and zoning irregularities against the Buca Municipality in Izmir, 26 suspects who were detained were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station. In the course of the investigation, 7 people were arrested while 19 were released under judicial control.
In İzmir, 26 individuals who were detained as part of an investigation into allegations of illegal practices in zoning and planning processes in exchange for bribes directed at the Buca Municipality were referred to the courthouse. While 7 of the suspects were arrested, 19 were released under judicial control.
ALLEGATION OF BRIBERY AND IRREGULAR LICENSES
In the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, allegations emerged that various zoning and planning areas that were contrary to the regulations were licensed as if they were in compliance with the procedure in exchange for bribes, and that benefits were obtained through this means. In this context, a detention order was issued for a total of 28 individuals, including 11 municipal employees, among them the Director of Licensing and Supervision of the municipality.
In operations carried out on February 6 by the Financial Crimes Investigation Branch of the İzmir Police Department, 26 individuals were detained. It was reported that efforts were ongoing to capture 2 suspects, along with 1 individual identified as being abroad.
7 INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED
The 26 suspects, whose procedures were completed at the police station, were referred to the İzmir Courthouse in the morning hours. After the prosecutor's interrogations, the suspects I.B., C.B., C.Ş., G.P., M.G., C.S., and S.K. were arrested, while 19 individuals were released under judicial control.
