After the MKYK meeting of his party, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated that the "Terror-Free Turkey" process is a state policy, emphasizing that it involves the dissolution and disarmament of all elements and extensions of the PKK terrorist organization. He assured, "Our esteemed nation should be at ease. There is no bargaining regarding the qualities of our state and the values of our nation." Çelik also mentioned that the PKK/YPG, which uses the name SDG, should cease to be a threat to Turkey.
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik addressed the media after the party's Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) Meeting, providing evaluations on the agenda.
"THE FOCUS IS THE DISSOLUTION OF THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION AND THE SURRENDER OF WEAPONS"
Referring to the 'Terror-free Turkey' process, Çelik stated that the focal point is the PKK's complete disarmament along with all its elements and extensions.
Part of Çelik's evaluations on the subject is as follows: "We know what we are doing as the People's Alliance regarding a Terror-free Turkey. Just as countries around the world use hard power elements, they also utilize soft power elements. At the point we have reached today, approaches are being made with the capabilities and possibilities of the rule of law. The focus is the dissolution of the terrorist organization and the surrender of weapons. The focal point is the dissolution and disarmament of the PKK along with all its elements and extensions. We have acted with both hard and soft power elements of the state, seeing the whole picture.
"THERE IS NO ROOM FOR BARGAINING"
A Terror-free Turkey is a state policy. If there are criticisms, of course, we listen, but we will not allow those who try to poison the process in an illegitimate manner without any method proposal outside of that. We will also fight against this. The path we follow is within our own sovereign territory. Our great nation should be at ease; there is no room for bargaining regarding the qualities of our state. Everyone should not forget that the support they give to this issue from their own position is a support for the unity and integrity of our country. The Republic of Turkey is in control of its own agenda. All institutions of the state are presenting an integrated strategy and a roadmap that produces results. Inshallah, we will strive to remove terrorism from the agenda of both our country and our region.
"SDG MUST CEASE TO BE A THREAT TO TURKEY"
What we say is clear. We are not interested in rhetoric; I am not commenting on this person's statement or that person's statement. What is important here is where the events are heading; it is about the mechanics of the situation. If someone says, 'I am not an enemy of the Republic of Turkey, I do not pose a threat to the Republic of Turkey,' we need to see this in practice. If we are detecting those who are preparing to attack the Republic of Turkey in the future, the rhetoric of 'we do not pose a threat to Turkey' has no meaning for us.
The SDG terrorist organization is the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist organization and must cease to be a threat to Turkey within the framework of the Terror-free Turkey approach. The national security sensitivities of the Republic of Turkey do not allow for delays; they must be fulfilled. Let us not lose sight of the focus. We are also noting the steps taken to eliminate the structures that pose a threat to Turkey and this threat.
The People's Alliance has expressed that the SDG must also disarm and comply with the March 10 agreement in complete consensus. Therefore, what we expect is this: not individuals, but the issue. The issue is both the security of the region and the security of the Republic of Turkey. The will for a terror-free region is actually the strongest roadmap that has emerged in the last century for everyone to escape the grip of imperialism."
