Planned water cuts that started in August in İzmir will continue until the end of November. The cuts will be implemented in two groups based on districts.
Due to drought and low rainfall in İzmir, the water level in the reservoirs is decreasing day by day.
WATER RUNS OUT AT TAHTALI DAM
According to the data from İzmir Water and Sewerage Administration (İZSU), the water level in Tahtalı Dam, which meets a large part of the city's drinking water needs, has dropped to its lowest level in history at 1.40%. The water level in Ürkmez Dam has decreased to 3.70%, and in Güzelhisar Dam, it has fallen to 44.64%. There is no water left in Balçova Dam, Alaçatı Kutlu Aktaş Dam, and Gördes Dam. The İZSU General Directorate is meeting İzmir's water needs by renewing the groundwater in different regions and the supply line in Aliağa Güzelhisar Dam, which has not been used for water for 20 years. Authorities emphasize that the rainfall regime has been unfavorable and insist that water conservation is of great importance.
