A 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul caught a barber in Arnavutköy while he was cutting the hair of a young customer. As soon as the barber noticed the earthquake, he picked up the little boy and rushed outside. Describing his experience, the barber said, "He was very scared and cried; we comforted him."
Fatih Umur Korkut, who runs a men's barber shop in the Haraççı neighborhood of Arnavutköy district in Istanbul, was caught while shaving a small child during the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri on April 23.
HE PICKED UP HIS LITTLE CUSTOMER AND RAN OUT
The barber immediately picked up his little customer sitting in the chair and ran outside as soon as he realized there was an earthquake. Those moments were captured second by second by the security camera of the workplace.
"HE WAS VERY SCARED, HE CRIED"
Describing his experience, Korkut said, "I was shaving a child at the moment of the earthquake. Everyone started rushing outside. I took the child and went outside. He was very scared and cried; we comforted him. After that, we went back into our shop. He was a small child, and when he got scared, I immediately took him outside. Normally, when a truck passes by here, the building shakes, and I thought it was something like that again. Then, when someone shouted, I realized it was an earthquake."
