The American company Alef Aeronautics has turned the dream of a flying car into reality. The car, which has completed its first test, can move both on land and in the air. The price of the two-seater model, introduced in Barcelona, Spain, has been announced as approximately 11 million TL.
The test conducted in the state of California, USA, turned the dream of flying car technology into reality. The aviation company Alef Aeronautics released a video of its 100% electric Model A car taking off from a public street.
MOVING ON LAND AND IN THE AIR
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the car, which moves a few meters forward before taking off vertically, is said to be able to travel both on land and in the air. While this test drive is the first of its kind in the world, it was stated that the car has thrusters on its hood and trunk to enable it to take off whenever desired.
"A NEW MODE OF TRANSPORTATION IS NOW POSSIBLE"
Jim Dukhovny, CEO of Alef Aviation, stated regarding the Model A test, "This driving and flying test proves the importance of technology in a real city environment." Dukhovny referred to the Wright brothers, who were the first to fly a powered aircraft in history. He said, "We hope to prove that new transportation is possible for humanity."
In a statement from the company, it was noted, "Although there have been videos showing that cars could take off using a runway and drone-like systems, this is the first video shot in a public area that shows a car taking off vertically, unlike others."
SOLUTION TO TRAFFIC WOES
It was reported that the Model A, which uses a traditional car chassis, can cover approximately 320 km on land and about 180 km in the air. Recently introduced in Barcelona, Spain, the two-seater model is priced at $300,000 (approximately 11 million TL), and it was stated that it has received over 3,300 pre-orders.
The company announced that it will produce a second flying car for four people and revealed that the more affordable Model Z will be sold for $35,000 (approximately 1.3 million TL). On the company's website, it stated, "With this vehicle designed to be driven on the street, take off vertically when needed, and fly over traffic, we are providing solutions to modern traffic congestion problems." Experts believe that the development of flying car technology will solve traffic issues. However, they emphasized that the infrastructure for this technology needs to be prepared and new regulations established.
