Alexander Westwood, an actor from Netflix's Sex Education series, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of 26 sexual offenses, including child molestation.
The Sex Education actor was sentenced to 15 years in prison for molesting young girls during acting classes.
24-year-old Netflix actor Alexander Westwood from Albrighton, Shropshire, was found guilty of 26 sexual offenses, including sexual crimes against children. According to prosecutor Andrew Wallace KC, the number of charges was reduced from 77 to 26 for the ease of sentencing.
Alexander was described as a "superior manipulator" who made sexual offenses a "lifestyle" for himself. The prosecutor told the court: "When fame was at the door, he met two impressionable 16-year-old girls and used his respected position to exploit them. If we had listed each incident, there would have been hundreds of charges."
Judge Neil Chawla told the defendant: "You used your minor celebrity status to prey on impressionable, innocent, and naive young girls. Your careless attitude throughout your trial bordered on arrogance."
"However, the jury rejected your denials and your victim-blaming narrative and found, as the prosecution stated, that you are a serial predator and that sexual offenses have become part of your lifestyle."
"I have thought long and hard about bail, but you were expected to stay at home showing mercy to your family. You were found in a hotel, clearly violating the conditions of your bail that was granted with mercy by this court last week."
"One of your victims said she felt dehumanized. Another said she felt dirty even doing the most mundane things. This is the horrific, lasting impact of what you have done - your immoral sexual offenses - on your victims."
"I must punish you for the numerous sexual offenses you committed over the course of a decade. You have shown no remorse and continue to be a danger to society. The jury exposed you as both a predator and a manipulator."
Prosecutor Mr. Wallace added: "After a lengthy trial, the defendant was found guilty of a series of offenses and therefore cannot benefit from any reduction. In fact, he labeled his victims as liars in the pre-trial report, which is sad."
"The pre-trial report shows that the defendant regularly exhibited completely inappropriate sexualized behavior at a young age. He is a serial sexual predator specifically targeting children. Four of his victims were children at the time. This is large-scale abuse. He could have been punished for 77 serious sexual assaults, but that would have been cumbersome for sentencing."
"The amount of planning that went into committing these offenses, and the fact that none of it turned into remorse, is concerning. The effort he put in is very worrying. He poses a significant risk to society. He has a blatant disrespect for his victims."
In December 2024, he was found guilty of 26 offenses, including crimes against children in acting classes. However, he denied all charges and claimed that his alleged victims had motivations to falsely accuse him.
His offenses include raping a schoolgirl he taught and sexually assaulting a child over a period of eight years.
