The father of martyr Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, Hakkı Kiraz, made statements following the decision of the terrorist organization PKK to disband. Father Kiraz said, "As a father, my heart is burning, but our state is more important than anything else. Yes, we love our son very much, but everyone should know that we love our state and our nation even more than our son."
The father of martyr Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, Hakkı Kiraz, evaluated the decision to dissolve the PKK terrorist organization.
Stating that he supports the process, Hakkı Kiraz said, "Terror has already been a curse on Turkey for 50 years. Terror has no religion, no faith. It has no color, no gender. It is a curse on this state. We have lost thousands of our people as martyrs. We need to understand the troubles of martyr families; their hearts feel differently. But if peace is coming to the country, if this nation is getting rid of this curse of terror, and if they have reformed and sought refuge in the state, then God loves those who repent. Our nation is a great nation, and our state is a glorious state," he said.
"WE ARE READY TO RISK EVERYTHING"
Referring to the contributions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli to the process, Hakkı Kiraz stated, "We are ready to risk everything for the survival of the nation and the state, putting our personal case beneath our feet. They will also come and seek refuge in this state, and it will be even better. There are many terrorist organizations. I hope this comes to an end, and this nation gets rid of this curse of terror. Our state will achieve prosperity. I believe being a part of this nation is a privilege in the world. Being Turkish is a privilege. Being a citizen of the Republic of Turkey is a privilege. Especially living in this homeland, on this land, is a privilege," he said.
"I ALWAYS ADVISED MY SON TO BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS JUSTICE"
The grieving father, who said he feels the longing for his son in his heart every day, stated, "Do you believe that every day a coal falls into our hearts? You are raising a child. You don't eat, you feed them. You don't drink, you make them drink. You don't wear, you dress them. You educate them and bring them to a certain point. You are, in a way, donating them to the state. I have always advised my son when he became a prosecutor, 'My son, may your name not be mentioned where you go, may justice be served where you go.' What was my son doing without any reason? He was looking into the case of Berkin Elvan. They knew the case was nearing its conclusion. But just as he was about to finish, they entered the courthouse, and those scenes occurred. As a result, the outcome ended in martyrdom. Nevertheless, for the survival of the state, we did not use a wrong word that day, and we do not use one today. Because God loves those who repent," he said.
"WE LOVE OUR STATE MORE THAN OUR SON"
As a father, expressing that his heart is burning, Kiraz stated that he would support every decision made for the country's prosperity and to get rid of the curse of terror, saying, "Our state is important to us. Yes, we love our son. We love him very much, and we still do. But everyone should know very well that we love our nation and our state even more than our son. For the survival of this nation, for unity and solidarity, let not just one of our lives but a thousand lives be sacrificed. Everyone is our child, as long as this curse of terror ends. May this nation achieve prosperity, may this nation find peace. May this state no longer struggle with these enemies. Our state is sufficient for this population. If they are really coming, if it is really happening, may God make it good. Mr. Devlet Bahçeli and our esteemed President have wholeheartedly taken this matter into their hands. We are ready to accept any decision they make," he said.
