Chinese car manufacturer SWM Motors has decided to start production activities in Turkey. This decision indicates that investments in Turkey's automotive sector are expected to increase. SWM Motors' move could initiate a new era in the Turkish automotive market.
The Chinese automotive giant SWM Motors is taking its presence in the Turkish market to a new level. The company's plans for local production in Turkey have started to become clearer with concrete steps. According to Burak Azmanoğlu, SWM Turkey's Commercial Director, production at the factory to be established in Eskişehir will begin in the last quarter of 2025. This move will be a significant turning point for the Turkish automotive sector in terms of both employment and exports.
STARTING WITH AN ANNUAL CAPACITY OF 25,000 UNITS
According to a report by Habertürk, Azmanoğlu stated that production will initially be carried out with an annual capacity of 25,000 units. The facelifted G01 and G03 SUV models stand out as the first models of local production. It has also been reported that the import of cars from China will be terminated with the start of production.
PLUG-IN HYBRID AND GASOLINE MODELS WILL BE EXPORTED FROM TURKEY TO THE WORLD
The vehicles produced at SWM Motors' facility in Eskişehir will be offered not only to the domestic market but also to international markets. The company aims to export plug-in hybrid and gasoline SUV models produced in Turkey. This will make Turkey one of the important production bases for the brand.
