Minister Yumaklı reported that the fires in Çanakkale Merkez and Dardanos, as well as the fire in İzmir Karaburun, have been completely brought under control and that cooling efforts are ongoing. Yumaklı stated: "We are continuously defending our Green Homeland against the flames. The fire that started yesterday at 13:30 in the Kepez district of Çanakkale and spread to Güzelyalı village, Çınarlı, and Erenköy regions was once again intervened from the air with the first light of the morning. On the second day of the fight against the fire, intervention was made from the air with 10 planes and 9 helicopters, and from the ground with 75 water tankers, 35 fire trucks, 10 bulldozers, 92 other vehicles, and 760 personnel.
3 VILLAGES HAVE BEEN EVACUATED
As a precaution due to the fire, 2,090 citizens in Güzelyalı village, Halileli village, and the Erenköy region were evacuated. Some villas in Güzelyalı village were engulfed in flames. Citizens returned to their homes in areas where the fire has lost its effect. Additionally, the treatment of 77 citizens affected by smoke is being carried out in health institutions, and it has been reported that their lives are not in danger. Meanwhile, a turtle and a puppy trapped in the flames during the initial moments of the fire were rescued by forest workers.
84 PEOPLE TRAPPED HAVE BEEN RESCUED
According to a written statement from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, 84 people trapped in the forest fires in the Dardanos area of Çanakkale were evacuated to a safe area. The statement said, "Our 84 citizens trapped in the area were evacuated to safe areas with the evacuation operations involving our sea vehicles belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure." Additionally, citizens at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Dardanos Campus were evacuated by ferries belonging to the GESTAŞ company, which operates passenger and vehicle transportation on the Çanakkale Strait and Islands line.
